Through Quiet Grasses

FIELD REPORT NO. 201518IC

Topic: Clearing the Mind

Conditions: Spare

Comments: At the beginning of a year, I'm faced with the need to get out of my neighborhood, my city, and get somewhere that can be described as meditative. The Saltese Uplands is a 522 acre conservation area located 25 minutes east of downtown Spokane. Seven miles of trails twist through the wild, indigenous grasses and brush. In any season, it seems at once desolate and teeming with life. When my head needs clearing, I walk (or mountain bike) these hills.

Key features:

At Saltese, you feel further out than you actually are. When you’re finished contemplating and you’re ready for some company, English Setter Brewing Company is not far away.
