Field Report No. 20150227ACB
Topic: Common Spaces
COMMENTS: Hot off the road we came like explorers setting eyes upon the new world—yes, ready for adventure and sights unknown—having buildings with names like HOTEL SARANAC and LONGBOTHAM standing silently, imposing their presence without words, only shape and appearance, like rust stains from fire escapes and terra cotta accents, multi-paned windows and great arcing solar panels basking in the afternoon sun.
KEY FEATURES: The recently renovated Saranac Commons is host to five small businesses and features a cozy atmosphere complete with fireplace and street-side roll up door.
RECOMMENDATIONS: A table near the windows facing West Main Street. Mellow, diffuse light reflects off the building across the street.
