Between Seasons

Field Report No. 20160427HB

COMMENTS: Sandpoint in April dances between the cool thrills of winter and the warm and welcoming sun of spring. This town buzzes with a humming energy; this is not a sleepy town, but it feels slow in the best possible way. I enter with Lake Pend Oreille to my left and right, and the amber sun stretching out its rays over the bridge. As dusk emerges, we take cruisers down to Baxters on Cedar to enjoy good wine under high tin ceilings. In the morning, Schweitzer offers great skiing with unbeatable views. The soft snow embraces your edges as you descend the mountain.

KEY FEATURES: After a day on the slopes, enjoy a craft brew at Pucci’s Pub, which features beers like Deschutes Red Chair Northwest Pale Ale and Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar. Ski in the morning and mountain bike in the afternoon. Sandpoint is in no deprivation of trail mileage.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Have lunch in the sunshine at Pine Street Bakery or have a picnic by the lakeshore.
