Field Report No. 20160406HB
Topic: Geared Up
COMMENTS: In downtown Ellensburg you’ll find an old welding shop with a bicycle in the upper window. Press your hands up against the window and peer in, you’ll find a genuine crew of bicycle mechanics, friendly local riders, and a circus like ceiling of bicycle wheels.
Throughout the year ReCycle organizes group rides. October thru March the shop offers indoor spin classes free of charge. They provide the trainer and the workout; you just need to bring your bicycle. On Tuesday’s and Thursday’s you’ll find a diverse group of cyclists jamming out to all the classic hits. Monday is Ladies Night, which also doubles as karaoke night. Well, not officially, but there may be some singing in-between climbs.
If you are new to cycling, this squad will welcome you and gladly help you get started. ReCycle is comprised of an encouraging group of individuals, rooted in their community. Their love of cycling and adventure is apparent. Whether you’re training for spring, wanting to get plugged into the community, or just wanting to move your legs after sitting at a desk all day; engaging in ReCycle’s spin class is a great choice. And if you’re lucky there will be a post spin meeting across the street at Iron Horse Brewery.
KEY FEATURES: Indoor Spin Classes; Big Friendly Dogs
RECOMMENDATIONS: Carb-load at Rodeo City BBQ for lunch or the night before then cap the ride off with something cold from Iron Horse Brewery.
