OBSERVATIONS:
It’s fun to say, the word the server uses for the single-bite-sized appetizers he sets before us in specially made spoons. “Your amuse-bouche.” When he walks away, we try our hand at pronouncing it, with varying levels of success [for the record, əˌmo͞ozˈbo͞oSH/]. Then we take our bite, understanding. Well-crafted food is meant to be savored, and on a subconscious level, there’s just nothing that signals “savor this” like only giving us one bite. We savor it, we savor the rest of the meal, we savor the wine, and we savor one another and the conversation we share about our first ten years of marriage.
