Pybus Public Market, Wenatchee Valley
Sunny, Scattered Clouds
There’s a palpable feeling of excitement. Opening weekend has arrived, accompanied by a general sense of “finally!” from the town. The place was jammed with people and likely will be for some weeks to come. It encapsulates the story of this town, the heart of America, and they were excited, just as they should be. It was a hot day, and bright, making the interior of the market all the more mellow and inviting.
A long abandoned steel mill turned public market on the waterfront. The brand new “public market” sign is particularly striking as one travels down Orondo Avenue, toward the Columbia River. The local farmer's market supplies produce and artisan goods to the restaurants inside the covered market. An original flatcar rides a spur road into and out of the building for indoor/outdoor crooning.
