Field Report No. 20151408TB
While wrapping up an incredible authentic Italian meal, we were disturbed with what news was brought to our attention. Fire had struck the Methow. It was spreading fast and roads were shutting down.
Our trek home went from bad to worse when we were stopped by state patrol men wearing masks to protect themselves from the smoke. We knew this was not a good sign. Concern filled our hearts when we began to fear for our friends in the Methow. As we were redirected through Waterville, the atmosphere was drenched in dust and smoke. I felt like I was in a Star Wars movie.
Barely being able to see twenty feet in front of us, we continued to listen closely to the radio for updates. Concern never left our minds. After hearing that our friends were okay, we were overwhelmed with relief.
