As Typhoon layers into a crescendo on stage, I tip back an IPA that was put together in the same nearby city as the 11-person indie rock juggernaut. I turn to my friend. “I like the northwest.” He laughs as the band explodes again. The moment is made possible by the vision of a young couple: Karli and Caleb Ingersoll. Not to mention a bunch of people in the crowd tonight. They were part of the crowd that funded a live music venue of which our city can truly be proud.
Live music in Spokane is better because of the Bartlett: an intimate, locally owned all-ages venue. They’ve carved out new territory by booking select touring acts, solid local musicians, and literary events. A well-designed space showcases the work of visual artists and features coffee, beer, and wine when it’s showtime.
